Ultrasyd is a slacker who makes French house beats and and eats chip for breakfast. He sometimes uses Renoise, and when it comes to making chiptunes, he composes using Atari ST, Game Boy, Amstrad CPC 464, C64, Amiga, and a couple of other obsolete systems. Ultrasyd made his first live appearance at Blip Festival in New York in 2011, and has since played Blip Festival Tokyo 2012 in addition to other chip music shows around the world.

Rockman [Brooklyn]

Brooklyn-based producer and DJ Ramiro Navarro, a.k.a Rockman, bases his music in noise and 8 bit sounds, and consists in the composing of his own sequences directly on a classic Nintendo Gameboy. He dabbles in dubstep on his FiXT ep “Search & Destroy” and has a sophomore album on the independent music label in the works for 2013.

Upon discovering what the program was capable of, the scientists took immediate precautions, securing it inside of the nearest electronic device they could find: a Nintendo Game Boy. They feared its power yet, could not bring themselves to destroy it. Trapped inside the machine with no way to escape and return to its own time, the program began expressing itself through the sound chip of the Game Boy. Eons passed. An exploration vessel near a planet called Earth recorded thefollowing transmissions–code named: L-tron.

Brendan Becker (born 20th century), known by his stage name Inverse Phase, is an American chiptune musician. The soundtrack to the 2010 video game Super Meat Boy features his song “Boss Burger N’ Chips”, which is a remix of the first and second level boss themes. In June 2012, he released Pretty Eight Machine, a tribute album of industrial rock band Nine Inch Nails’ 1989 debut album Pretty Hate Machine.

Dan Winckler has performed or designed projections at MoMA PS1, the Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts, the American Museum of Natural History, Eyebeam, the Tank, { R } a k e, EyeWash, the Austin Museum of Digital Art, the MenschMeerMedien Festival 2007 in Bremen, Germany, and the International Symposium of Electronic Art in 2006. He is the founder/partner of Really Useful Media, a Brooklyn-based production company. He has collaborated with a wide range of artists including Benton-C Bainbridge, Bit Shifter, Koosil-ja, Glomag, and Lance Blisters. He is also a contributing developer to Open Emu, a set of tools for “virtual console bending”, i.e., live manipulation and deconstruction of old school game consoles including the NES, Sega, and Game Boy.

John King, composer, guitarist and violist, has received commissions from the Kronos Quartet; Red (an orchestra), Ethel; the Albany Symphony/”Dogs of Desire”, Bang On A Can All-Stars; Mannheim Ballet; New York City Ballet/Diamond Project, Stuttgart Ballet, Ballets de Monte Carlo; as well as the Merce Cunningham Dance Co. An excerpt of his most recent opera, Dice Thrown (based on the Stéphane Mallarmé poem) was performed by New York City Opera in May 2008 and the complete staged version was presented at CalArts in April 2010.

Amanda Long is a sculptor investigating light, color, perception and human behavior. Her video and film installations have been exhibited at Mono No Aware (2011-2012), Bring to Light Nuit Blanche NYC (2011), the Dumbo Arts Festival (2011), the Mattress Factory Museum (2009-2010) and the Children’s Museum of Pittsburgh (2009-2011). She received a MFA in Art from Carnegie Mellon University and a BFA in Sculpture and Extended Media from Virginia Commonwealth University. Her kinetic video sculpture, Lighter and Lighter, was the recipient of the University Film and Video Association’s Carole Fielding Grant (2010). Amanda currently lives and works in Long Island City, NY.

Their music will make a fun, live electronic dance party for you using Nintendo Game Boys as instruments! The music will also accompany a group photo exhibit of Lomography photos of New York City by photographers Marjorie “Chiptography” Becker, Dean Putney, and more!

Nathaniel “Natty” Adams: writer, musician, and President of
the Institute for Elegance. He composes music using
software running on hand-held devices such as the
PlayStation Portable, Nintendo Game Boy, and (as soon as
someone invents some music software for it,) the Amazon
Kindle 2. He resides in Jersey City, New Jersey, where he
spends most of his time fully dressed. He is the inventor of
many cocktails and the beneficiary of many kisses and
flutters of eyelashes.

Former Boston rock scene alums Lydia Marsala and James
Therrien (Fugitive Kind), combine forces for a new take on
live electronic music. Using a unique blend of live vocals,
acoustic instruments, gameboys and vintage electronics,
Br1ght Pr1mate explores, bends and completely ignores the
boundaries of Chiptune, Pop, Art, Electro, Rock, Jazz and
Soul for a futuristic fusion that would be right at home on
your favorite space ship.
